I have two of these radios, and when I fixed the first one, I just unplugged it and plugged in the next one, then tried to upload that same image directly to the second radio. One other note I'll add here is that I had to do it in 2 steps. Interested to see if anyone with more experience think that theory holds any water. Working theory: With the 999 MHz number in there, I somehow overflowed the floating point precision where that number was stored in the radio's memory, which made it think the upper bound was lower than 999. If anyone has a good explanation on why this solved the issue, I'm all ears. Strange issue, since the frequencies I was trying to program were clearly between the limits I had set. After that, I was able to program the regular 70cm frequencies. (Spoiler: as expected, it doesn't work.) To fix my original issue, I reset these settings to the default 136-174 MHz and 400-520 MHz. Not sure why - I was probably messing around to see what, if anything, would be received on bands outside what it was designed for. I don't know why I did this years ago, but in CHIRP, I had adjusted my VHF and UHF upper and lower limits to be 100-199 and 200-999, respectively. Solved - for anyone that stumbles upon this in the future. If it helps, the firmware says N5R3409 / BFP3-25. I can upload the same image back to the radio without changing anything, and can modify the settings without issue (changed the UHF lower limit by 1 MHz to test that, and no issues). The radio is already set up to accept UHF frequencies from 200-999 MHz (I know the radio can't do this, but obviously 446 falls in this range).

I've already checked in Settings > Other Settings.

Get a message saying Error setting memory: Frequency 446.000 is out of supported range Select the frequency programmed in already, 446.000. Success - I see all of the programmed frequencies In CHIRP, "Download from Radio" and select Baofeng BF-F8HP (UV-5RTP isn't in the list, and 5R doesn't have the three power levels like the F8HP model) I'm trying to edit the frequencies programmed into it way back when, but CHIRP is telling me that frequencies in the 70cm band are out of range for this radio, which is incorrect. I have a UV-5RTP that I'm dusting off after not using it for a while. The closest thread I found was this, but it seems like the OP got help outside the forum with a change to the.

Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
